Showcase
In June 2006, I was asked to develop a site for the IT teaching section of Swan TAFE (Tertiary And Further Education) in rapid time. I had under 10 days to design and produce the basis of a new web site to be used for marketing purposes. Now given that Swan TAFE is my normal day time employer, it was a good idea to take the job, and complete the work. I am not fully content with the site, but it is a starter point for the department. We have big plans for the next stages of this site.
This is my entry into the WA Mac Users Group site redesign competition. It closes on the 14th May so I might get time to do a secondary entry as well. I’m quite happy with this, even if it could do with some more finishing off.
Finally the Deep Steel Design site, launch date 4th April, will be the showcase for Glen Jones’ work in Steel and Glass. His artwork is amazing as well as sleek. I used dark colours to bring a feeling of questioning as to what the work is about. I am pleased to have all bar a few minor problems completed and ready for launch.
Luciano Mesiti needed a site to coincide with his first album launch. The colours, use of a “personal” and warm feel to the site has made it easy on the eyes as well as get some very positive feedback.
Swan TAFE site redesign. As part of my normal day job, I became involved (back in September 2005) in the redesign of the Swan TAFE web site. It was finalised in October the same year, but has not yet been released. This has been due to some unforseen delays. Unfortunately, even though the design was very accessible, the system that the hosting provider gives the college is not very accessible. The menu system, for example, is heavy on the JavaScript and overall the provider is very heavy towards the IE only in compatibility. Anyhow, the implementation should be going ahead in a very short time, and go live soon after (Note: this item was added in July 2006).
Zonte’s Footstep was completed as the company urgently needed to get their site up and running. It has flaws, but the client was happy. I would love to redesign the site now I have some more skills and add a bit more flexibility.
Mancerbear’s site is in its second incarnation with myself. The original site is dead and buried and after an abortive redevelopment from another company, Darren asked if I could assist him. The design needs some updating and a content management system to be added so as to allow him to write and add his own work without intervention from myself unless major changes are needed. Please note that this site contains nudity and material relating to the gay community. The content may not be suitable for those under the age of consent.
Bears Perth’s site was developed back in about 1999 and is, by today’s standards, decidedly dated and needs a big redesign. This site relates to a section of the gay community and should be viewed by those over the age of consent.
